Davenport, John
(abr. 1597, Coventry, Warwickshire, Inglaterra– 15 mar. 1670, Boston, Mass., EE.UU.).

Clérigo puritano británico–estadounidense. Fue vicario en Londres y en 1633 se trasladó a Amsterdam, donde fue copastor de la Iglesia Inglesa. En 1637 partió a América del Norte con Theophilus Eaton ( 1590–1658) y sus seguidores. Juntos fundaron una colonia en Quinnipiac (New Haven) en 1638. Fue el pastor de la iglesia de New Haven; Eaton fue elegido gobernador. En 1667, cuando no logró impedir que New Haven se uniera a la colonia de Connecticut, se marchó a dirigir la Primera Iglesia en Boston.
